Chromosome numbers of eight Carex taxa in Korea (Cyperaceae)

چکیده
In the flora of Korea, Carex L. is one most species-rich genera. Among nearly 157 taxa, less than 30 have had their chromosome numbers reported. We report meiotic eight taxa from Korean populations, which include first count for C. accrescens Ohwi (n = 37II) and investigations populations three taxa: bostrychostigma Maxim. 22II), lanceolata Boott 36II), paxii Kük. 38II). species, counts observed in study are included within variation ranges previous numbers. However, 22II) planiculmis Kom. 29II) assigned new known to holocentric chromosomes, lacking visible primary constrictions exhibiting great variance its number. Further diversity chromosomes will provide basic information with understand high species genus.

Nonuniform processes of chromosome evolution in sedges (Carex: Cyperaceae).
Holocentric chromosomes-chromosomes that lack localized centromeres-occur in numerous unrelated clades of insects, flatworms, and angiosperms. Chromosome number changes in such organisms often result from fission and fusion events rather than polyploidy. In this study, I test the hypothesis that chromosome number evolves according to a uniform process in Carex section Ovales (Cyperaceae), the l...

REZNICEK, A. A. 1990. Evolution in sedges (Carex, Cyperaceae). Can. J. Bot. 68: 1409-1432. Carex is the largest and most widespread genus of Cyperaceae, but evolutionary relationships within it are poorly understood. Subgenus Primocarex was generally thought to be artificial and derived from diverse multispicate species. Relationships of rachilla-bearing species of subgenus Primocarex, however,...

متن کاملHybrid Origins of Carex rostrata var. borealis and C. stenolepis, Two Problematic Taxa in Carex Section Vesicariae (Cyperaceae)
Hybridization is frequent in the large and ecologically significant genus Carex (Cyperaceae). In four important sections of the northern regions (Ceratocystis, Glareosae, Phacocystis and Vesicariae), the frequent occurrence of hybrids often renders the identification of "pure" species and hybrids difficult. In this study we address the origins and taxonomic rank of two taxa of section Vesicaria...

The genus Carex belongs to tribe Cariceae, subfamily Caricoideae and family Cyperaceae. This genus, with about 2000 species in the world and more than 50 species in Iran, is the largest genus among the family. In expedition to North West and West of Iran, two species, namely, Carex acuta and C. cilicica as new records and C. flava, C. rostrata and C. supina as reinvestigated species are reporte...
